RHS Chelsea Flower Show Trade Stand Design

Designing a trade stand for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show presents a unique challenge. It must attract visitors from every angle, showcase the client's products beautifully, and create a memorable experience within one of the world's most prestigious horticultural events.

This contemporary trade stand was designed for Bull & Stein Sculpture at the 2024 RHS Chelsea Flower Show and was awarded the coveted 5 Star Trade Stand Award by the Royal Horticultural Society. Inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, the design combined drought-tolerant planting, a contemporary gravel garden, charred Shou Sugi Ban timber cladding, a linear rill and a central water feature to provide a striking setting for the client's bronze sculptures.

Every element of the design was carefully considered to complement the artwork rather than compete with it. Naturalistic planting softened the contemporary materials, while ornamental grasses and long-flowering perennials added movement, texture and seasonal colour throughout the display. The result was an immersive exhibition space that encouraged visitors to pause, explore and engage with the sculptures from different viewpoints.

Creating an award-winning Chelsea Flower Show trade stand requires months of planning and close collaboration. From developing the initial design concept and producing detailed visualisations to sourcing specialist materials and selecting every plant, each stage demanded meticulous attention to detail. Numerous design reviews and refinements ensured the finished stand achieved the highest standards of craftsmanship and presentation expected at Chelsea.
